Good afternoon Foodies and Happy Sunday!
Today I am so excited to tell you about my experience at the amazing event “Sweety of Milano”. I hope you had the chance to see my lives on Instagram but if you did not, no worries… Just keep reading the post to know everything you need about this fantastic sweet event!
Let’s start from the very beginning… What is “Sweety of Milano”? Basically, it’s the best Italian sweet fair – a sort of big “pastry shop” – that on 2 days, 16th and 17th of September, has reopened for its third edition in the historic frame of Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
"Sweety of Milan" is the first and only big event where you can meet the best Italian pastry chefs coming from all over the country (Luigi Biasetto, Gino Fabbri, Sal de Riso, Pasquale Marigliano, just to say few names)!!
The most prestigious Italian pastry masters have their own stand and you have the opportunity to talk to them and buy their products at exceptional prices. You can also discover the "secrets" and the pastry techniques by participating in the masterclass, which are the must-have conferences, organized during the two days... I mean, I really could not miss it!
The first feeling I had when I came there was happiness. I mean, come on, I was surrounded by an amazing smell and by all these beautiful cakes and pastries that I didn't even know where to start my visit!! Everybody was smiling and happy, because that's how having a cake makes you feel... For those 3 mins you forget everything and you just treat yourself with that delicious little delights!
So I started my tour, and while enjoying some tastings I actually got the chance to meet and speak with some Pastry Chefs (and take some selfies, of course)… They were all so nice and kind with me considering that they were really busy with the fair going on!!
But there is also something more.
Some weeks ago I sent my request to participate to an Italian show called “The Sweetman”. It is not a reality and not even a competition - such as "Bake off" or "Masterchef". In this one, you have the chance to bake your favorite cake with the best and most famous Italian Pastry Chef Iginio Massari who, at the end, will taste your cake and judge it! I would like sooooooooo much to meet him and prepare my cake for him! So it was a no brain to send my application! After that, few days ago, I was contacted by the production of the show to have a casting… Which was held during this event!
So I had more than one big reason to go. The casting went fine, I was not nervous at all and really at ease in front of the camera. I was asked to speak about me, what I do, my story and my cakes. Then few technical questions and that’s it!
I honestly have no idea of which criteria they use to pick people for the show, but anyway you never know... Right?
Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to book a masterclass and I was not lucky enough to meet the Pastry Chef Iginio Massari (but only his carboard cutout, as you can see form the pics), hopefully it’s gonna be at the show… Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
Well, it’s time to bake now so enjoy your Sunday and remember: you can’t buy happiness but you can buy a cake. And it’s kinda the same thing!
xx Serena
